If you want to replace your old, dishwasher, refrigerator, or stove you just might earn some cash on your old appliances.
Many states participate in a rebate program to encourage people to recycle their old appliances and replace them with energy efficient products with the energy star label.
When you buy a new appliance, recycle the old one, many retailers will haul away your old one for free, just make sure they have a recycle program, also tell them that you don’t want your old appliance resold.
Make sure you get documentation from the company about where and how your appliances were recycled.
In order to get a rebate you may have to show a receipt for your energy star purchase and a receipt from the recycling company that received your old appliances.
The amount of money you receive varies from state to state.
So, if you are thinking about getting rid of your appliances, think about cashing in on your old appliances with energy star.

What great advise. I did not know that this program existed. We are about to ‘redo’ our kitchen and plan on replacing everything but the dishwasher (only 4 years old) and we will certainly find out how our state handles old appliances. It is a win-win for everyone! Thanks for sharing.
