We’re halfway through summer and we are still trying to find free and fun things to do with our family:
- Why not treat them to a free outdoor movie. Screen on the Green film festival held every year on the National Mall in Washington DC, shows free classic films like the James Bond thriller “Goldfinger”, “Bonnie and Clyde”, “The Goodbye Girl”, and “12 Angry Men”. If you are not located in the Washington Metro Area then check your local city or community paper for similar events in your area.
- Pack up the cooler and go to the beach for a day of fun in the sun. Have the kids go on a treasure hunt looking for unusual sea shells, and sea rocks that they can take home to make creative art designs.
- Go on a hike or a nature walk at your local national park.
- Take your kids to either Home Depot Kids free Workshop or Lowe’s free Build and Grow Clinic.
- Turn on the sprinkler in your front yard, buy some ice cream and invite your kid’s friends over for an ice cream sprinkler party.
