You feel that there has to be something better for you; but you don’t know how to get started:
First, you need to boost your knowledge and skills for your job in today’s economy. Things are changing rapidly and you need to stay ahead of the game in your work environment.
Every couple of years get a copy of your job description and see if there could be room for improvement; maybe there have been changes in your industry that you need to know about. Research additional resources about your job position online or in trade magazines.
Attend workshops and seminars for additional training and development in your field.
Look for opportunities that are currently not being met on your job; solve a problem, fix something; you just might create a new position for yourself.
Technology is here to stay so learn how to set up a Facebook, or Linkedin account for your company; YouTube has many great tutorials on how to set up social networking accounts. Learn computer hardware, software, basics so that if something happens and your company does not have an IT department; you will be the person they rely on for assistance.
Learn a second language, as diverse as our world is today the ability to speak another language will only increase your chances for better job opportunities. So take an online class or head over to your local community college and register for a foreign language class.
