In a Dream I Quit My Job

I Quit my Job but only in my Dreams| Savings Scoop

Have you ever had that dream where you win the big jackpot in the lottery and one of the first things you do is go to your job and tell your boss and co-workers where to go and how to get there because you really can’t stand them?

Suddenly your alarm clock goes off and you realize it’s only a dream.

Did you find yourself routing for that Jet Blue airline steward who in the heat of the moment cursed at a passenger, grabbed his bags, two cans of beer, and slid down the planes emergency chute as he announced his resignation.

A couple of weeks ago a good friend of mine quit her job simply because she was completely burned out.

Over the years her company down sized giving her more and more responsibility and less pay. After years of being over worked and under paid something had to give because it was affecting her health and quality of life. Even though she does not have another job lined up yet; she has a sense of peace about her decision to give up her job. She believes that her decision will lead her to do something better in the future.

Sometimes in life you have to give something up in order to get something greater in return. I remember last year I worked on a few projects that I didn’t like, along with a full time job and I really didn’t have any time for myself. One day I realized that I had to take a break and I finally gave up all of the extra projects I was working on. For the first time I was able to think about what I really wanted to do. I still had a full time job but, I was able to start focusing on my passion for film-making and writing. Because of my decision to “let go I was able to start this blog, take a writing class, and work on a film. My life is more balanced and I am not as stressed out as I was a few years ago.

At times we come to a crossroad in our lives where we have to make a decision about leaving our comfort zone and stepping out on faith to follow our dreams. Although the extra income is not there anymore I am less stressed and at peace because I am doing what I want to do.  One day I hope to make a living out of working on my passion full time,  then I can truly become my own boss, and stop having dreams about quitting my job.

So if you find yourself in constant turmoil and you dread going to work, then maybe its time to make a change in your life and start pursuing what you really want to do. Just remember you never know what will happen until you take a chance and step outside of your comfort zone to pursue your passion.

And remember when one door closes don’t be sad because another door full of opportunity is going to open for you!
