Invest in Yourself 2011

Invest in Yourself 2011|Savings Scoop

New Year, New You,

Now is the perfect time to invest in you.

Whether you are trying to get out of debt, find a new job, or just do something entirely different with your life. Sometimes there are signs all around you and if you pay attention, these signs just might change your life.

For example, two months ago someone asked me my plans for 2011 and my response was that “I plan to invest in myself”.

Even though I said it, I really didn’t believe it until the opportunity to take an online course at half price was presented to me.

It took a few days to take that leap of faith and sign up for the year long course. Although it was half price it still was not in my budget but I’m glad I seized the moment.

Sometimes your subconscious can prevent you from moving forward, but you have to find a way to conquer the “what ifs” and other fears that might get in the way of your success.

Another sign came in a fortune cookie I got a few weeks ago; in bold words it said “YOUR BEST INVESTMENT IS IN YOURSELF”.

Any doubts that I had about making certain investments in my life started to fade away.  Somehow the confidence that was buried under my concerns started to radiate throughout me. The hours that I spend learning seems like minutes; the possibility that was once a dream now seems more of a reality.

The painting above is proof that if you make a small investment; something beautiful may come out of it. It’s something I painted at a birthday party recently. When I saw the blank canvas, I immediately said that there is no way I could ever paint; but with the guidance of a great instructor and some good wine, I was able to create this painting which I call “Possibilities”.

Just remember, if you try anything is possible…

I talked about signs earlier, and how you should really pay attention. Well guess what the topic was at my church service on Sunday?  “Making an Investment in Yourself”.

In spite of the rough economy, unemployment, and our poor financial situations, we must still try and better our lives. Even if times are hard we can still make ourselves better. If you take just one step forward it will get you closer to your possibilities.

So go ahead and take a course, go to that workshop, volunteer, learn a new skill. Do something that you’ve never done before; get out of your comfort zone and make the best investment in YOU! So when the economy gets better you will be ready.

What kind of investment are you making in yourself? Feel free to comment.
