Its hot, it’s humid, it’s Memorial Day Weekend!
So break out the bathing suits, sunscreen, and grill…It’s time to get ready to officially kick of the start of SUMMER!
There are many things that you can do this Memorial Day Weekend even if you are on a BUDGET… So pack up the family and a cooler with food and drinks and head to the beach for a day of sun and fun… if you can splurge then try to stay an extra day at the beach to spend with loved ones…
In most American cities there is a local or national park that you and the family can go to for a cookout and a day of FUN… you can even bring the pets. Most parks are FREE!
Another way to spend the holiday with your family is to go camping… if you are into nature, and don’t mind the bugs then camping is an affordable way to spend time together. All you need is a tent, camper, sleeping bag, and location of a great campsite which could be your own back yard.
Finally Memorial Day is when we honor those people who served our country … so if you happen to be in the Nation’s Capital there are plenty of FREE things to do including visiting Arlington National Cemetery, Vietnam Veterans Memorial, and World War II. Memorial.
There is also the National Memorial Day parade where veterans and marching bands representing every state, participate in marching down Constitution Avenue near the White House.
If you just want to relax and listen to good music then head out to the National Memorial Day Concert on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol… get there early because thousands of people will be on the grounds of the mall staking out the perfect spot to hear the National Symphony Orchestra, Gary Sinise, and more entertainers for FREE!
