It’s a New Year, and it’s time to repair our finances and put ourselves in better financial situations.
Out with the old way of thinking that it’s impossible to get out of debt or be wealthy. We are no longer going to blame the poor economy for our financial mess.
We may start out the year with less than zero in out bank accounts, but we are going to work hard to reduce our bills, increase our incomes, and raise our credit scores.
No more negative thinking that it’s impossible to get out of debt, we may start off the year broke, but we have 12 months to pay off our bills, generate extra incomes, and save money, by using coupons, and figuring out different ways to have fun with our family and friends on a budget.
We will look for free budget programs to help like Mint.com and Learn Vest, to help us keep track of our financial goals so that by years end, we will know exactly how much money we have coming in to our households and how much we have going out for expenses.
We are on a mission to fix our finances, it’s not going to be easy, but it is doable.
We may get knocked down a couple of times in the process of repairing our finances. But it’s what we do to get back up, and move forward towards our goal of financial independence.
The one thing we can’t do is to give up on our goals of reducing debt and having more money, yes we are only in the first week of a new year, but look how fast 2011 went, many of us made promises about making a few changes in our finances, yet many of us are still in the same financial mess if not worse.
We can’t reflect on what we didn’t do last year to improve our financial situations, but we can use the clean slate of a New Year to start over and repair our financial mess. The one thing that we don’t want to happen is for next year to be doing the same thing.
So, let’s make a pledge to ourselves, families and friends that we will do whatever it takes, to repair our finances and move towards the road of financial freedom.
