The extent in which the US national debt is rising, it is getting gradually harder to blame savings shortfall as the primary reason for this debt amount. Though there are many other factors that contribute to the rising debt level, lack of saving habit among the Americans is the biggest reason. With the rising costs of medication, housing, transportation, very few people are finding it easy to save a considerable amount of money. If you’re looking for ways to save money in order to be able to make payments to the debt help services, read on to know about some smart and effective points.

1.      Don’t go shopping only because there is a sale: If you have had a habit of going for shopping whenever there is a sale, change it immediately. In order to pay off your debts through debt help services it is very important to adopt a frugal lifestyle. Start with the need and then look for the sale. Of course purchasing items during sale will save a large mount of money but that doesn’t mean that you require buying anything beyond your need just to make use of the period of sale.

2.      Try to cook your own food: Ask your cook not to come and impress your friends by your culinary skills. Sending off your cook will save you those extra dollars of paying her and you could easily utilize that money in paying off your financial obligations.

3.      Buy used cars: It is always recommended to do away with luxuries but if you need a car badly, consider getting a used car to save the extra money on new and expensive cars. You may find it attractive to buy a brand new car but as your new car rolls out, you will see lots of expenses accompanying it.

4.      Don’t go for vacations during peak seasons: If you have the habit of traveling during vacations, try to avoid flying in the peak season. The air tickets will always be expensive during the peak season. Visit all the tail ends of the season so that you can reap the benefits of both good weather and affordable rates.

5.      Cut your housing expenses: If you’re frantically looking for ways to save a lump sum amount of money each month, make sue that you curtail your housing expenses. You can stay in a rented house or apartment rather. It is seen that an average person spends $13, 100 on household expenses. Look out for some cheap homes in some not-so-expensive areas where you can stay at an affordable price.

If you’re really ambitious about boosting your savings account in order to pay off the debt help services, make sure that you create a savings account. I need to learn not to go shopping when there is sale. I need to learn not go shopping. Period. Shopping is my worst enemy. LOL We also like to eat out. It is our big expense. We do realize that cooking saves a lot of money but we still go out. LOL

      Aloysa,

A few months ago my rational for shopping was that “since it’s on sale it’s meant to be for me” especially if I got it at 50% discount, however I realized that basically there is a sale every week, and If I continue to spend my money shopping I’ll never be financially free. lol, I’m one of those people who does not cook…but I’m trying now, because I’m sick of spending my money on food that I could have made at home…
